The Challenge
As part of its mission to support crew members from diverse nationalities, the client partnered with us to determine the most effective way to ensure all crew were adequately trained. This needed to be achieved while addressing key challenges such as limited internet connectivity at sea and ensuring that the European head office remained up to date with each crew member’s training status. To meet these goals, the Shipping client collaborated with ERSolutions UK leveraging their expertise in creating engaging, user-centred digital learning experiences.
The Solution
ERSolutions UK worked closely with the client to develop a bespoke eLearning bite-sized course. The module combined a sleek, modern aesthetic with a responsive, mobile-first design, ensuring accessibility across all devices. The content was structured as an “open toolkit,” allowing users to either progress sequentially through the full learning journey or dip into specific sections as needed. Our instructional design team transformed dense technical material into an engaging experience through the use of: • Animations to clearly and visually illustrate complex concepts • Video integration, combining existing footage with newly created interviews featuring subject matter experts • Interactive elements that break content into manageable learning blocks • Parallax scrolling to create a contemporary, website-style experience that encourages exploration The graphics and layout were carefully designed to maintain a professional tone while ensuring the interface remained intuitive and visually appealing. This approach made even complex safety content accessible and easy to navigate for the target audience. The result was an elegant, informative, and flexible digital learning solution that supports crew members in understanding critical life safety procedures and knowledge.
